I dont mean to bring back an old thread, but its mine so I guess I can...

I'm just curious, has anyone used my minimap technique or anything from PNMZ in one of their projects? I'd really love to see it was able to help anyone =)

Well.. I guess it depends on your definition of "barely handle". To me, that few cubes should not bring the fps down to 50fps. Esp not on a 3.2ghz p4 with a radeon x800

Ok thanks for the info I'll check it out but I have a feeling irrlicht isn't going to be my choice for this project anymore. It can barely handle 64 cube meshes on the screen at once on my pwoerhouse pc.

To change the radius of texture bluring/lod. Right now by default textures start looking muddy ridiculously close to the camera. It looks terrible.

I must be blind =\

I suppose it'd be possible. I'm currently about to get knee-deep into development of game that extends the concepts of PNMZ and adds a lot of customization so I don't know when I'd have time to update this. So heres the source code: http://www.dracsoft.com/viewdownload.php?id=46 Let me know if you m...

Cool. I'm sorta in the market for a new 3d engine because I plan on making a new game. Still trying to decide if irrlichts for me on this. The 256x256 terrain limit is really turning me off.

Same links apply, but a slight update to make the game look better with parallax and bump mapping on the sidewalks and buildings.

Guest. You will have to get a CVS client and grab the source from the sourceforge cvs.

For beginners, Tortoise CVS is pretty simple.

I had to do some optimizations myself. You can see I call ->setVisible() and stop the animation if the mesh is out of camera view. Without doing that even on my powerhouse desktop it would not get above 30fps. The minimap is very cool, sadly it also halves your FPS so maybe theres a more efficient w...

Please No More Zombies! - Open Source FPS

Hey there I created an open source FPS thats not quite finished but pretty fun to play. If anyone would like to help on it, I'd appreciate it since I don't have as much time as I used to. You can get it here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/pnmz-fps A pre-built version can be found here: http://www....
