At this point I'm not really sure how the voting will be done, but there will be 5 finalist (teams) approved by dp

In the rules state that teams have to followthe community design, then if teams participate in desgin there is a chance that final decision on certain pieces might be affected by them ...

besides Merciless there is 10 more teams registerd on MC (1 team is not associated and 1 team doesn't count). Some of them are kept private. Some are using "big" name engines as well. I have been in contact with at least 5 or 6 teams so far. So I think it started to pick up.

if you remember the frst milestone was a demo video. It is still way ahead of the milestone due date. Even though the milestones are not required, it's good to have so you can get feedback from community.

just an update for you guys

dp had meeting with dev that are participating (2 teams showed up). 1 team had already POC demo video and even playable demo. And it didn't look bad. They are using source engine. If you interested to see what they came up with in such a short time I can give you the link

I doubt it; it's on a third party web site. However, at some point Acclaim are going to try to lock developers in, at least with first refusal rights. They are going to provide test resources, and so will have an implicit claim. Absent an explicit contract, the transfer of value will create an ...

Why? They're already working for you for free for a year; I don't think you should be making the deal any worse with "need to" conditions.

Out of interest, how many teams have signed up so far?

I'm not here to promote MC, but they offer tools that could be very helpfull. It's free anyway.

reason why desing doc is rather vague is that we are still in desing process, still easrly stage. And any dev team can participate as well.

Server architecture is up to a dev team to decide what they think would be the best. Minimum required was 3000 players per server and 8 players per instanced ...
