MKG is doing a fantastic job at trolling. Hats off to you for your flagrant deliberate efforts to antagonize people. I wasn't going to post any more in this thread (as I said in my last post). However, bullshit like this demands an answer. No, Syrus, everything I said was a genuine attempt to elici...

Okay .... Okay...... up goes the white flag. I'll take your advice, Mastergod, and just get down to it. I suspect everyone will be relieved. And maybe when I've finished Project No. 1, I'll make the super-super demo that doesn't exist .....NOOOO Don't hit me, Rogerborg!!! AAAAAGGHHHHHH Now, does any...

Another guy walks into the same bar, looks around, sees one guy sitting at the bar and a bartender. He asks the bartender what would be good. "Depends what you want" said the barkeep. After a few questions and answers, the recommendation is made, the guy buys his beer and lives happily eve...

Methinks I'm flogging too many dead horses. The fact that someone can say that they don't see why I want to use Irrlicht in the first place is a tad worrying - have I possibly plumped for a beached whale? The fact that someone quotes a high number of users as evidence of quality is worrying consider...

Dude, Irrlicht is a GRAPHIC engine. There is no AI modules of any kind, weither it be path-finding, problem resolution, fuzzy logic or anything. The event system, while good, is an addon. The fancy graphics it can do IS a good part of the deal. If you're looking for a game engine, you might be inte...

I'd like to see what you consider a good example and a bad one, if that can be done without offending anyone... Then I can point you to some more good examples :) Yeah, it's difficult. However, let's have a go. A good example would show what Irrlicht is capable of in terms of event handling, AI, an...

Seven - point taken, but maybe I worded my moan badly. I didn't intend to get at anyone who just enjoys what they do. The people I was moaning about are some (not all) of those who, unlike you, present themselves and their work as examples. When someone like me - inexperienced in this particular fie...

OK rogerborg - you're right and I accept the wrist-slapping. I was moaning - probably something to do with the awful second-half display by England against Wales yesterday. But the core of the argument remains true - same old stuff EVEN FROM INDIE DEVELOPERS who should be able to break new ground bu...

It's a sad state of affairs. The number of times on this and other sites where I've read that no-one (i.e. no one who has merely an idea) has a chance of creating a "good" game without the necessary programming skills - and then the number of reportedly "kewl" games from those sa...

Definition/speed trade-off

Dooohhhh! I've just clicked. Now I know why animated scenes are nowhere near as realistic as rendered stills. My question is, though, has anyone ever tried to quantify the trade-off? Is there a realism/practicality graph for animations anywhere? I've searched, and a lot of people mention the trade-o...

Now there you go. That's what I love about forums (fora?). You ask a simple question and, before you can say "sublimated sexual connotations", you know all about spears, swords, stabbing and penises (penii?).

Oh, I'm going to love this place

Thanks guys ... I think all I really needed was exactly what you provided - a quick response and a positive one. OK - I'm on board with Irrlicht. Now I have to kick myself for looking everywhere around the net for Irrlicht examples EXCEPT here (senior moment). Thanks again - now I can narrow down th...

Hi all, I'm Mike, and I have an ambitious 3D project in mind - modelling a real medieval village (with real medieval people) and producing a guided walkthrough. The problem is that the last time I coded anything, BASIC wasn't a dirty word, C was an absolute revolution, and anyone who could use dBase...
