Re: irrBenchmark (Maybe!)

Unfortunately, the professor has now said that we won't be able to work on this project. I am incredibly disappointed :/

Well, perhaps a team of irrlicht community members can work on this instead. I, unfortunately, don't have the time to work on this unless it was for the class :(

irrBenchmark (Maybe!)

Hey guys, just making this post here about something CuteAlien and I discussed. Currently, I am in a class which is baqsically about how to do software development on a team. For this class, we're going to work on an open source project. I wanted us to work on irrlicht, but most of the class picked ...

It's called a "dog tag". You shouldn't have any trouble finding a jewelry store or some such place that will make you one.

tbh, I've thought about doing something similar a couple of times, but then I remember that it is expensive to run a server/servers that could support this of project :P What's your plan for hosting this?

So, just to clarify, when you buy a subscription, you can download anything that's there for the length of the membership, and then once the membership expires, you can still use whatever you already downloaded, but you just can't download new stuff, right?

Haha, that's awesome. By the way, what tool did you use to cap your OpenGL version? I wasn't able to find one for ATI cards, I know for NVidia you can use Riva Tuner. I'm gonna need to test out some OpenGL stuff later, so if you can show me where to get a tool to limit OpenGL versions that would be ...

The Windows OpenGL SDK only has OpenGL 1.1 functionality. You can find gl3.h on OpenGL's website. I believe they also have an appropriate glext.h I don't think that's the problem, though, because if it was, you wouldn't be seeing OpenGL 3.3

That is quite strange. Like I said, irrlicht reports OpenGL 4 for me. You have the 10.6 catalyst drivers?

When you run Irrlicht, it will say whatever the highest version of OpenGL is currently supported by your video card and drivers. For instance, I have a Radeon 5850 so it says I am using OpenGL 4.0.someothernumbers but that doesn't mean it is using any 4.0 features. Irrlicht only uses OpenGL features...

Oh, no, I knew this wasn't commercial, fan games generally never try to be (I've never seen one that tried, actually XD) but the companies would still make sure they got written assurance.

Exactly, I am just surprised :D I wasn't trying to like call him out or anything, because most fan games don't go and get permission, so I was curious whether they actually made it legal and everything. But yeah, it's not legal, but fan games that are obviously fan games generally won't be prosecute...
