i have seen this if the graphic card setting for openGl quality is 'low' (would -properly- be something similar for dx?)
-eg are u sure this is an IRR problem?
Try to look at the default setting for ur graphic card

Add faces to the box work afraid that is the only option. afaik the light is 'made' at the vertex. if the 'spacing between the vertexes is huge the light cant 'reach' perhaps u can tweak it a litle with the light intensity /visiability params, but smooth lighting is only good if the vertex count is...

try to look at ur console. propl theres an error in load of either mesh or textures OR!! -the mesh -is- loaded but it is either scaled to big -eg cam are -in- it and therefore nothing is seen -or it is scaled to smal and need to upscaled before it is visible -both are very common 'problems' -real- p...

Yes! indeed this is so. I found that the solution was to reduce viewport y -In my specific case (6*800) this artefact hapens when viewport y >570
I -think- it is post irr 0.11 that this artefact emerged (may 2005)

neh.. when i cranked my light on my monitor up to 90% i could see a blueish color on the 'black'...
so.. both -are- the same but apear so different..
I have NO idea why

the color changes slightly as you can see in this screenshot: eh the first got a sky.. the scond does not! thats more than slightly! if u look at the egde of the windowf rame , then the colors are actually very close in both img. It is the part where the sky 'blend in' that are different ..perhaps ...
