get rotation of a triangle

i have a cubescenenode and i want to rotate it like a triangle, so the surface of the node is parallel to the triangle.
So how can i get the rotation of the triangle?

i want to write something to have blood on enemy skin when i hit it with a weapon (could be used for thinks like bulletholes, too). the idea i thought of is to get the texture of the enemy, modify it and reattach it to the enemy or maybe use the different texture layers for this? would something lik...

yeeeah, it f****** works 100%, i used arra's solution, it works perfectly.... after almost a week i finally got it!!! now noone can stop me anymore!!

ok, now the code works.... the only problem i guess is the scale, my parent is scaled and so it doesnt work. if i remove the scaling it works perfectly.

well, i tried your code, Acki, and it didnt work for me. i rotated the parent and the child always had a different position, i cannot imagine thats its working correct on your machine... this function must be incorrect!! we need a correct setAbsolutePosition() function!!

but I'm not sure what this pParent->getAbsoluteTransformation().inverseRotateVect(v); call is for, I think you should remove it... if i remove this, then the function does nothing at all, this is the line the function is all about. u said it worked for u? could u post your example code were it work...

i think i got it:

Code: Select all

 _ps->setParent(bone);
_ps->setRotation((-1)*_ps->getParent()->getAbsoluteTransformation().getRotationDegrees());
this neutralizes the rotation coming from the parent.
the other problem is now i need to do the same with the position...
