Just kinda refreshing this post (after running an hour long search lol). I'm trying to make animations in 3DS Max. Based on what I've read here Irrlicht has no way of loading that information, but you can export the animation to a DirectX Mesh? Does it just export a certain number of frames from the...

Err I think I mislead everyone, the thematics for a game... character names can all be considered intellectual property under US copyright law right?

It's like I couldn't market a game with "lightsabres", I'm sure Lucas would love that :)

3DS Max Material Repeating?

How does one get 3D Studio Max to not "stretch" an applied material, but rather to repeat it (or tile)?

These are some of the more low budget materials... but they show the kind of trees you can get out of this (they're around 1,000-2,000 polygons). http://www.frogwise.net/showcase/fwclient1.jpg http://www.frogwise.net/showcase/fwclient2.jpg http://www.frogwise.net/showcase/fwclient3.jpg http://www.fr...

Copyrighting?

Has anyone gone through the process of copyrighting an actual idea for a game yet? If so who did you go through?

I went ahead and bought this program (as well as plant life) from aliencodec. It's terrific but a little complicated for making things loadable in Irrlicht. You have to export the models as .obj and then convert them through another program (I used wings 3d since its freeware) and then load them up ...

From what I have seen, only what is rendering in front of you is what is being loaded with Irrlicht. Anything that isn't on the screen may still be in memory, but that allocation can be overwritten with new information (and furthermore if you probably turned back to the exact same scene, it would wr...

Treemagik Anyone?

Is anyone using the full version of this program? How many polygons are the trees actually using?

Practicality Questions and 3DSMax Question

Okay I had no idea what to search for so please forgive me if this is kind of redundant to answers given out before. My first question is regarding materials in 3D Studio Max, I am wondering how you can prevent the system from automatically "stretching" the texture but instead repeating it...

3d Suite Designers Out There?

This is probably a rather stupid question but I'm curious to know if anyone on here is actually working in the industry (outside of a hobby) as a 3D Modeller/Animator. If so, what is your education background? Do you think the new tech programs for game design are worth their immense cost? (The Art ...
