Yeah sorry should have specified, will just be on Windows. I have the Irrlicht and IrrKlang dll's in my debug folder at the moment, do I need to have all the C++ source and project files included somewhere, or would it literally be the .exe file from my project folder, along with .dll files and the ...

Creating an installer for my game

So I have made a small tech demo using Irrlicht for a game project I am doing for my course, but I need to hand it in on disc in an installable format. I have absolutely no experience with installers, and have no idea where to begin with making this game run from a disc on another PC.

Could anyone ...

Problem loading a certain .x file

I have been able to export and load a few simple .x animations from 3dsMax, but the main character for our game will not load, when I try I get this error:

First-chance exception at 0x100dff5b in quakemap_3rdPerson.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x1c17496f.

You cant import .irr files, so editing your level is abit long, but what I do is put the level together in coppercube, importing 3ds files etc. Then when I export the level, I also save a coppercube version of it, so that if I want to edit the level I can just open the coppercube version, edit that ...

I think that instead of releasing more updated versions of IrrEdit, they released it under the name Coppercube, I dont see much difference between the two programs. (although im sure someone can probably correct me on that)

I found that using IrrEdit I could not load any .irr scene files into my ...

Problem loading animated .x file

I can load the example dwarf animation, and a simple character rigged with biped in 3dsmax and animated to walk a few steps. I then tried to animate a more complex character, just to walk a few steps aswell, and when trying to load it using the standard code I used for the other models, I get this ...

Rotation and Movement question

Hi, I am trying to make my character move in the direction he is facing, using slightly adapted code from the movement tutorial on the website. But I dont understand how I make the character change the direction he is walking, relative to where is facing.

The code I am using from the tutorial for ...

Yep double checked the folder exists, and it also says it failed to open the .3ds file and texture files, not failed to find them. But im sure the file paths are correct.

I also tried doing the simpler tutorial that came with the irrlicht download, which did not include collision detection etc ...

Im pretty sure its running from the debug folder, as the irrlicht DLL file has to be in this folder with the .exe otherwise the program will not run

This is the tutorial I am using:

http://irrlicht.sourceforge.net/docu/example015.html

There is no mention of the texture filepaths, I assumed the textures would be stored in the .irr file and load up automatically?

I did specify file paths for certain objects and it loaded the textures for them ...

Problem loading textures

So I am following tutorial 15 of the tutorials on the Irrlicht website, and I copied and pasted the exact code into Visual Studio express 2010, but for some reason no textures are being loaded, and so nothing appears on screen when i try to run the program.

This is a screenshot of the code that ...
