i compiled it and made it install in /opt
then i changed the makefiles to use that version and copied the new libstd and stuff into the /lib directory.
but the lack of colored textures does not seem to be a gcc problem to me...

I have debian woody (stable) but with gcc 3.3.2. i did not change the X server.

examples and 0.4.2 on linux

hello,

i tried to run the examples on linux. with example 1 (hello world) i still can not see textures (the lady is just a white hole) when running opengl with a voodoo3 card (meaning i run in 16bit color depth). any ideas? when running on an other machine with no hardware accel and 24bit color ...

Well, my linking problems just went away :-)
If you just installed gcc , you maybe have to call ldconfig - and you have to make shure the right versions of the standard libraries are used.

in my case (voodoo3) i had the tdfx driver loaded, changed X to run with 16 bit colors (this is a voodoo3 specific limitation) and still no success, glxinfo kept telling me "direct rendering: No"

well, this output looks just as i had when trying to compile with gcc-2.95
are you shure you are using 3.3.2?
try g++ --version and see what you get

Linking Problems with gcc-3.3.2

hello all,

it would really be good if there would be a note about the gcc version required in the readme - and even better if it could compile with gcc-2.95 as i.e. debian woody (the latest stable release) uses this version and other older linux installations.
