@tchilrri: How long would it take you to download a new version of Irrlicht? A couple of hours? (2-4) I would think that spending 2-4 hours every couple of months to get a new version of irrlicht is a good trade. I agree. I was going to post the same thing but then decided against it. But seriously...

Re: Rotate MD2 and keyboard response slow
Hi, For question 1: You need to change the model's pivot point in your 3d application that it came out of. Irricht considers the models pivot as the center of its world so everything will happen from the pivot point: roatation movements etc. For question 2: I would not recommend searching the forum ...

for an MMO you would need a much better implementaion of a terrain node than Irrlicht currently offers. You need one that can load different zones on the fly. Of course you could do this yourself in Irrlicht and I think someone already started working on one which will. Check the forum for more info...

You could do a define statement at the top of your code so that you do not have to type stl::string everytime like this but I mean you are still just saving three letters. I guess that could add up a lot of time if you have trouble typeing "::"
Code: Select all
#define string2 stl::string

Arrrrggghhhh. Wait wait wait a hole in the model would not make any since because the box stays the same size and does not change as the shadow Moves. If it was a hole the shape of the box would change perspective, I think. It may just be too late at night to be thinking about these things. Still tr...

That is crazy werid. I looked at the video and here is what I can determine so far many of which you probibly realise yourself. I am going to call the abnormality a box even though we know know it is not a box but the texture showing through. 1.) The box only appears in the shadow of the first(or la...

To do something like sunlight you would need a direct light. I know the sun is an omni type of light but it is so far away that it behaves like a direct light on earth. Unless i am mistaken doesn't Irrlicht only have omni lights? if that is the case(Which I am not entirly sure it is) then you would ...

Why is using that sky sphere better? Don't you have a strange effect then because of the sphere? Sky spheres can often times be a lot better and in many ways worse than skyboxes. You do not have to worry about seams or about the small amount of distortion from textures being on a box not a sphere. ...
