Shout-out from the Z-Man

Just thought I'd pass this along. Apparently, the Z-man (Andy Dunn) is pretty impressed with Irrlicht. At least it seams like he speaks pretty highly of it here.

And the comparison he has posted there is pretty neat too.

Check out Tutorial 9 in the wiki. I used a panel for that particular case, but I would imagine a picture box would work similarly.

ew, I know Valnarus mentioned this before, but most of the discussion for this project is now on the main IrrlichtSharp website . So far, braneloc has been doing a great job with the web programming end of things. We have a wiki setup as the main site with links to the project's forums, and once the...

*GASP* Good thing you said something. I was starting to turn blue. I understand how busy things can get. I have a family myself, so things keep pretty busy around here without building new houses. I know a few people who've done that, and it sounds like quite an undertaking. I agree that the d...

FYI: Subversion is supposed to be available to everyone on SourceForge sometime in February. I haven't notice any official anouncement that it's live yet. They might still be doing some beta testing on that. Personally, I'd prefer to see Subversion as the source control system for the project, but I...

Not sure about Tao on .NET 2.0, but the SDL.NET & ODE.NET (related to Tao, but somehow not quite the same) guys seem to be working on building their stuff on .NET 2.0. One of the issues I have with SDL is that it seems to only run on OpenGL. Which brings up another topic. Since it looks like we'...

I have it on good authority that the_bob is excellent with this sort of thing Huh? That's not the way I remember it... Also, I'm no whiz with HTML, etc. But, if you are still looking for help with that I'd be willing to pitch in when / where ever I can. There, that's more like it... S...

Braneloc is right. As far as .net development, Irrlicht is about the most mature engine I've seen. It includes rendering in DX8, DX9, OpenGL, and even software. The API documentation is available right from the Irrlicht homepage. The wiki information will also grow as more people start using Irrlich...

So far, it's all c# for me. Just enough c++ to find my way around the tutorials and such.

I'm really interested in boo, though. For now, I'll just be watching to see how it matures. Looks pretty impressive so far.

Valnarus, you can get the Visual Studio 2005 express editions for free. As long as you download before November 7th or something, they will not be charging anything. Also, you may want to look at the free / open source SharpDevelop IDE . Version 1.1 of Sharpdevelop supports the .net framework v1.1, ...

I would think that Irrlicht should run on either 32 or 64 bit machines. You might just not be taking advantage of the 64 bit architecture. There is an article here that addresses setting up VS2003 for XP64. There is also a readme in the bin\Win64 folder of the SDK about compiling the 64 bit version ...

Zitzu, Finally got a chance to look at tutorial 8. I updated the comments a bit, and removed the cursor. Also, I think I figured out your question on the realtime shadows. The native version of the API indicates that the stencil buffer field of the constructor is what affects the drawing of shadows....
