It sounds like you have no choice but to implement a bones animation system. If you were incline to reduce the number of objects to just hand weapons and included the hand postition in each key-frame animation that would work too. Also realise that q3 models are broken into three parts, head, torso,...

If you are using bone animation you can have the hand a separate node and just make the weapon a child node of it with a zero offset. It all comes down to knowing where the hand is and what direction it is facing. If your avatar is static or moves very little (like the marine's face in Doom I and Do...

I'm not familiar with GTA so bear with me...... I assume you want a 3rd person camera like Tomb Raider etc? If so you also have the problem that the camera is not point directly at the rotation of the node. The user swings the mouse, the character knows to turn left 30 degrees, the character doesn't...

I haven't seen it because it crashed so don't flame me if the answer is obvious but does it use OpgnGL control points and splines? I know I had a few problems when I was attempting LOD terrain with OpenGL control points between NVidia and ATI.

I haven't used steam yet but from what I hear isn't there the really big problem that you can't register without being online? Sure this is becoming less and less of an issue these days but plenty of situations arise where someone might wish to player the single player version but not have internet ...

If you don't like English, blame England for spreading over most of the world in the last 5 centuries. Or, we could start over any everyone who wants to talk here needs to learn Esparanto. =D lol, well when Queen Victoria ruled a quarter of the world we didn't have major world wars etc but now sinc...

Umm you can't patent stuff already in the public domain. The 3D patent should not have been granted due to the fact there are plenty of examples of displaying 3d images on a 2d surface that predate the aplication for that patent. I had an Amiga 500 back in the day, even it had limited 3d games. And ...

True but what about the fact a German-only speaker has to wade through lots and lots of English posts s/he can't understand. If there was a German only area that would help him/her rather than just leaving after finding it is just another English based group. Of course it might be solved if posts ca...
