How to load *.tga for terrain

hi everyone , I haven't online for a long time .
I play the game "Beach Head" , and I want make map use the *.tga ,but how to load *.tga for heightmap ?? I just can use *,jpg or *.bmp . when I use *.tga for heightmap there is wrong . So how to load tga for map???

I'm just make midi or mp3 or wav in my project , and I also want to add 3d sound in it . But the fmod don't works . I have to download the openAl sdk and I never use it before . so Acki please mail me your source . my email:jl0206_80@hotmail.com THANKS :D

How can I add the Detail map

I know whe I use addTerrainSceneNode() I can add detail map , but could you tell me whe I use addSceneNode() how can I add the detail map???
BTW , I also want to know why when I use addTerrainSceneNode() there always have some pane through my terrain . ???

But I think it is the prboblem of the function of addTerrainSceneNode() , because when I use the fuction of addSceneNode() there isn't have the pane . So I mean that I use addTerrainSceneNode() there is pane .
