.3ds file format support keyframe vertex animation?

Post by Bartek »

Hey everyone,

I have a character model that I have animated using bones and skin. I then used a plugin to convert my skin/bones keyframes and bake them right into the mesh. So now my character is just a mesh with animated keyframes.

If i export as a .3ds file for irrlicht will the 3ds file store the animation?

So far Ive had no luck. If I animate the horse just bouncing up and down as a mesh, that animation does export. But the run cycle I baked into the mesh does not export - all i get is a static mesh in the game engine.

Any ideas?

.3ds does not support animations in Irrlicht, though it will contain keyframe based animations in the file. You have to export to .x, .ms3d, or .b3d.
