I haven't installed Vista 64-bit, but would like to in hopes of solving a few long-standing driver problems.
Yesterday at SD West (The annaul Software Developer conference in the silicon valley), I spoke with Jono Wells, the person at Microsoft responsible for seeing that Visual Studio 2005 works with Vista. I'd relayed to Jono the trouble my colleagues have had with OpenGL and Vista -- even compiling and running simple OpenGL examples!
Jono was adamant that Visual Studio 2005 can run fine under Windows Vista, even 64-bit (which is the version I have). Here in the Irrlicht forum, I've seen that some folks have moved to Vista without a problem.
Has anyone had success compiling/running Irrlicht apps in VS2005 under Vista using the Irrlicht OpenGL driver?
There were a lot of ominous reports about OpenGL being imcompatible with Vista, but that seems to have been discredited now on the main OpenGL boards.
Moving to Windows 64 was a bear for me, and I want to obvoid that mess if possible with Vista.
Thanks!
OpenGL support in Vista (64-bit)
That's encouraging...
Thanks, Hybrid, for your note.
I'm still keen to hear from someone running Vista 64-bit (business) who is able to compile Irrlicht OpenGL apps in Visual Studio 2005. Pretty specific, I know!
Many thanks,
-Kevin
