Sorry to Necro-thread, however I was looking through some old files I found your tutorial for GTKRADIANTv4, Afecelis.
It is here if you want it: quake3.zip
Let me know when you find a permanent home for it and I'll take it off of my site, since it's not really mine to give out.

done! grab it here:

Just re-read it and it's a good explanation, though there are many things that could be improved, specially now with GTKradiant 1.5.0. Things would be simpler. But I guess It's a good guide for people wishing to create their own Q3 bsps and being able to use them in Irrlicht.
Thanks for the help!

One quick question I'm unsure about
I've read about compilers and legal issues, and I've heard about Q3 compilers.. GPL? it's all too comfusing to me.. (soaking up too much information)
I followed the tutorial in your zip file and everything works perfect, my question is.. Are my maps made with this application, and compiled using the compiler you outlined in the tutorial safe for commercial works?
thank you
-Mike

@BarkerGaming:
Yes - since GtkRadiant and q3map2 were GPL'ed you can use maps created with them it in commercial products - this works exactly like Blender or GIMP - they both are released under GPL.
I have a question about q3map2 tool. Can it generate lightmaps on objects which use gouraud shading or only flat shaded objects can be used in q3 maps?
// and another question - why is gtkradiant so unstable under linux

I've looked up a Q3 mapping tutorial because a lot of questions are basic Q3 mapping questions. I've done some simple CoD1 and CoD2 aimmaps. IMO All radiants i've seen look alike
Even better this tuturial was made using GtkRadiant
