The Pit
The Pit is (or is going to be) a single-player melee-styled game. It may have multiplayer (over LAN) capabilities in a later version, but for now I'll focus on the single-player stuffs.
Basically it's senseless robotic combat. Might make a good time-killer. I'll try to post more screenshots and stuff but remember that I'm a programmer, not an artist
This is a screenshot of one of the combat areas.
Current Features :
-Player loading
-Level loading
-No AI computer loading
Working on :
-Making more levels
-Working on the AI (ick)
-Getting some screenies of the robots.
Weapons :
-Grappling arm
-Melee (jagged swords, cutting arms, etc.)
-Rockets
-Lasers
Vehicles :
-Banter
-Candor
Here's a render of an untextured, unarmed Banter.
Here's a render of an untextured, armed Banter with no textures.

People kept bugging me about how I need to do sideprojects, apparently it never occured to them that I never posted some of my sideprojects because I didn't like them so I guess I'll do a sideproject so people will get out of my hair about it.
Plus it'll be a nice break.
Edit : I've gone through several models that I've made and I just can't satisfy myself. Blegh. Might be a while before I post some screenshots of characters.

I would think it more important to finish up one task before taking on another, just speaking from my own experience. I'd hate to see another notch in the failed Indie RPG statistics. Anyway, good luck with the new venture.monkeycracks wrote:People kept bugging me about how I need to do sideprojects, apparently it never occured to them that I never posted some of my sideprojects because I didn't like them so I guess I'll do a sideproject so people will get out of my hair about it.

If you keep blaming everybody else for your lack of focus, then your next side project might be a guest stint as Attorney General.

Your tired of people saying you'll never complete Anteron ... so you stop working on it and instead focus on a side project?monkeycracks wrote:I'm tired of people saying I can't do it, so I'm developing a side-project to shut them the gently caress up.

No need for the dramatics...monkeycracks wrote:'You'll never do it, you need to do other things first'
No, that's what I'm doing. Which is what I said I was doing from the start.
You'd think you can have more than one project without people going insane.
Insane? No. Disappointed? Yes. And I don't believe for a second that you would stop working on Anteron, a project which you spoke very highly of, to appease these others who say you need to work on side-projects. I think you either got bored or realized; "Wow, this is actually work!" But what do I know right? I'm insane. Again, good luck with the new venture. Robot Wars was one of my favorite shows as a kid, same premise as your game. So I am looking forward to it.

I totally agree with that! While i am working on IPhysics, i am also working on several other projects too! I believe that instead of writing 20 lines of code and hitting a bug which will force you to pull your hair out, you should work on a side project, cause working on only one project becomes very frustating, and you seem to do almost nothing because of the dead ends! Work a while on something else and come back to the project and youll solve the bugs!People kept bugging me about how I need to do sideprojects, apparently it never occured to them that I never posted some of my sideprojects because I didn't like them so I guess I'll do a sideproject so people will get out of my hair about it.

I got lots of side projects.. while I am achieving more at once trust me it only compiles the stress in the end.. these last few days I've been spending lots of time outdoors.
which is highly unusual for me.. in fact I just got back because I couldn't stay away either.. now I'm off to play some americas army.. later.
oh yeah.. I also welcome any new game projects.
and nice art for a only programmer. could be better though with more detail but if its just a quicky looks good enough.

This sounds pretty cool. Nothing wrong with side projects you can learn things which you use in bigger projects. Also, have something that you can finish easily, just so you can feel what its like, and what it takes to get a finished product, even though it might be something small you may realise there is alot (or not much at all!) to it. But anyway as long as you keep working on your main project will may take a while you should be fine. (Just remember that dude that kept working on his rpg game and finished it lol, the one with the article on dev-somethingorrather)
Cheers
