Rules For Posting
Yes, I know that this is a rant of sorts but i'm just getting plain annoyed at the same question being asked several times in a short period of time.
So, Rules to do Before Posting :
1) Check the FAQ/Tutorial Thread
2) Search the Forums and browse through most (if not all) the results, not just the first page
3) Read the Irrlicht FAQ
4) Post a well thought out, easy to understand post
5) Make the title informative, nothing like "Help Me!", more along the lines of "Problem with Dev C++ and DirectX"
6) At the end of the first post, please post your system specs (if applicable to the problem), what device, engine version, error codes/compile log, and any pertinant source code.
[edit]
Also, please refrain from posting "Hi, I have a good idea for a game, will you make it for me?" Most people on this forum are either working on their own or helping other people. If you would like to post something like that, post something more along the lines of, "I would like some help for a fps game I am making. You can find information about the concept at (website, even geocities or something is fine, just something), and some early screens/art/design concepts at (subpage). I have...(list experiences/other information that you think would get people to help you). We try to help, but we can't make your game for you
Thank you for your time.
And if it would be possible, sai, could you make this a sticky/announcement?

Forgive me for asking, but can you point to this FAQ?Robomaniac wrote:
3) Read the Irrlicht FAQ
I've checked the Irrlicht FAQ message boards, and did not find 'one' message that says FAQ, so I am not sure what you
mean. I love reading FAQ as it is a condensed version of the topics being asked in one place.
To be fair, people asking questions are busy people too...most of them would only love to read a FAQ before asking
questions. But ploughing through the FAQ message board with confusing message headers can be daunting to someone new to
Irrlicht.
Dont shoot the messenger guys, it might be time to start developing just one FAQ as other forums have.
Robomaniac- I agree with your other points though,

OK, you're right, excuse me, please !!!
I searched before, but just in the beginners and advanced forums, next time I#ll allso search in FAQs....
But with this problem with devc++:
maybe I'm to silly for this, like many other users , but I can't get it to run with directx !!!
I've done all as it's discribed in these HoTos !!!
Compiling the Irrlicht.dll source with directx causes an "string to long" error when dllwrap.exe tries to combine all object files !!!
And DevC++ gives me an error that the project was not compiled !!!
Without directx DevC++ shows no errors and says "complete", but in the compilers log dllwrap.exe causes an "no such file or directory" error !!!
I think it'll an great idea if the developer of Irrlicht (sorry, forgot your name) compiles the Irrlicht project for DevC++ with DirectX9 (at least vor dx8) and makes a seperate download for these who need it !!!
what's about a poll to this !?!?!

There are already several sources in which to get the precompiled one. Check the new FAQ list thread. The reason Niko isn't doing this, is that all developers do not have the dx dev pack installed, which would lead to errors. Again, try the thread in the FAQ list for more info on where to get the sources
Robomaniac: I saw the new FAQ, thank you very much. I appreciate it
BTW, I actually read the FAQ on the Irrlicht website before coming to the forum, what I was asking for was a more
technical FAQ, which you've done. I, too, forgot about the tutorials as being an excellent source for all things
Irrlicht.
Of course making the FAQ a sticky is right on. Thanks again...
Now if we could only get the FAQ into a question-answer format, but that might be too much to ask for now. Oh well, some people are never satisfied eh?

Just Post
Theres no administration of it, if you want to do it in q+a form, just post it, and i'll edit/delete/change my post to match it, or just keep it the way it is (which is what'll most likely happen).
Or, you could always start your own "FAQ Q+A Form List" thread if you want, but if you wanna use mine, just post

I agree with Robomaniac (his first post up there).
Some genuine problems are getting lost in the clutter.
Like the "scale/clipping issue";

A seperate download of the dll and libs, for those, who has the DX package installed, with an reference for having the DX package installed !!!
I don't understand the reason, at all...
I only have to get installed the DX package for compile the Irrlicht source, not for the Irrlicht engine it selve, i think !?!?!
When I have the Irrlicht engine with DX compiled, I don' need the DX package any more...

@Acki --> See my other post
Heres just another example of a question that could be avoided by following the idea of these rules.
http://irrlicht.sourceforge.net/phpBB2/ ... hp?p=11575
http://irrlicht.sourceforge.net/phpBB2/ ... php?t=2153 --> Its the first link on that page If the author looked there before posting, his problem would've been solved w/o asking again

And yet only a few days after this thread was started, we see this;
"arggg !!! please help" by 'newbie'

Just a thought, but...
