Good beginning, keep it up.
By the way don't you afraid of being sue by the original creator of StarWar?

read the disclaimer. That's why it is there.

I read the disclaimer, but the problem is that most surely those character designs, ship designs, names, etc, are also registered, and one can be sued even if is a freeware or open source project.

is just a comment, to give it a extra thought, only that...

Personally, I see perfectly correct to do what you want to (tho never was very fan of starwars) but the companies are very strict in that....

I suggestion could be to make something in that lines, and with that goord organizing it has already, inspired on that world, but strongly different in every bit, which also could be a very interesting creative exercise.

But to each is own, this is only how I'd do it to make it safe...The big danger here tends to be letter from company and project killed..which turns to be a pittty....

We've investigated Lucasarts license. As long as we dont use named characters like obi-wan, for example, it is fine.

*EDIT* Engine information added to the first post.

Ok i uploaded a little preAlpha...it's just engine testing right now and the game code is not done at all. But basic things work already.
This version features one playable class the B1 droid.

To start a server got to host a game and then hit connect. A blue screen should show up. now press 'p' on the keyboard to spawn the testmap. then hit 'm' to bring up the join menu. there u choose the second tab and click on the first button. then hit join. now u r spawned in the world. You can move freely with w s a d and sapce to jump. With the first mouse button u can through a smoke grenade. there is a reload delay for the grenades of two seconds so just hit the button until something pops up....

lol what do you mean finally?

it's not even past the first page yet it's just a baby thread.

besides everyone knows it's nothing without my input. lol

jokes aside I love starwars... I became an addict after playing the mmo and spending a few days reading the database... let me tell ya the best part of starwars most people haven't seen.

the lisence issue... well really it's not an issue lucas has some of the best terms ever.. I didn't know about the names thing. I was told anything from starwars was fair game if it didn't take on proprietary names like movie titles ect.. and wasn't commercial.

I'd be willing to bet a commercial lisence isn't even all that expensive either but who cares really thats for sony to mop up.

looks like you got everything under control I would love to see this thing finished and working... hell i would love to see just one irrlicht project of this caliber reach a true beta stage.

good luck! 8)

Well gameplay is comming along pretty well except for some lags.(have to find out why its happening)

since programming gamelogic the whole is boring i sad down and made a grass scenenode.
I remember bitplane made one, too, but his node needs way to many parameters and i couldn't plug it into irrEdit. Therefor i made my own and pluged it right into irredit for easy acces.

well here are the shots and the irredit plugin.
