I've also read it's over complex.

Anyway, it's said to be very capable in its graphic matters.

And there are loads of engines out there. So. Everyone should test several, and simply use whatever he/she likes more, feels better with. I strongly doubt any opinion(neither if given by a super expert in both engines, if that exists) in a forum would determine which to choose as best option for every personal case.

Just following who used what is zero data to me. Lots of software out there are more used for good merchandising. Don't tell anyone, but it even happens with Operative Systems ;)

And with 3d modelers, btw. Oh, and, something that every day in my job, gives my daily kind reminding of this fact :...ALSO with BROWSERS. [grunt!!!] ...this is as a clear case as no other could be more.
What every body use, think, say, is not the best , as a rule...

but in this case, I'd say sounds as to be an amazing engine. Almost as good as irrlicht ;) :p

ya but i think ogre website and the fine models used in the tutorials make it better in representation among peaple and it affects the other (what they choose for their project)

as far as i'm versed, ogre pushes more towards the bleeding edge of technology, whereas irrlicht attempts to work on everything, all the time, no matter the hardware.

well...who can judge an engine by the artists quality?

that is more on how well artists are treated once they reach the comunity (am an artist, I know what I speak about) .Also, how well supported is their tool/favourite format.

weird, the irrlicht version i used has a lot of bugs, is slow (especially on older hardware) and sometimes works different from OS to OS.

The answer to every irrlicht ogre debate is in my sig.
"Irrlicht is obese"

If you want modern rendering techniques learn how to make them or go to the engine next door =p

I meant upgrading Irrlicht... also if you have anything specific, you've been around long enough to know where the bug forum and tracker are :P

omar shaaban, if you want to know why Ogre users use Ogre, just study their forum. There is a similiar discussion going on there too atm. And many ogre users posted their rationale as to why they chose Ogre. HTH

Ogre is good, but Irrlicht is better ;) Irrlicht only require: good VBO, new Animation system for good mesh format and Shaders :)
