from winxp to vista

Post by omar shaaban »

wow it is like switching from win98 to win xp win vista is sooo coool it is another world ,one of the feuteres i like about it rates your computer :P
nice interface, and high speed dealing with memory and 3d applications, even the internet speed has been incresed(winxp used to download at low rate but there is not a big diffrence)
coming with win media center(xbox opreating system) and very powerful by the way it is the ultimate verstion so it is cool,
i dont think i will return to winxp
unless i had problems with applications in vista
but does vista will not be good if i run it at 1gb ram!?

Im sticking with good old Win xp and Ubuntu. The only thing that vista does is apply effects that have been available in other OS's for years such as a nav bar and improved graphics. you can still get a better experience in either linux (XGL) or Mac graphics wise. Another thing is half of your software doesnt work on it. and you may say DX10 is da bomb!!!! But i say its buggy and only makes the already slow vista slower.

Also I dont see a jump comparable to 98 - xp

And if your using Internet explorer... its very SLOW!!! USE FIREFOX

My take on it

Vista was never ready for release... The big turn off for me is OpenGL support or lack there-of.

OpenGL 2.1 is capable of DirectX10 graphics... if not better, check out these images if you don't believe me:
http://www.gamebrink.com/forums/imgcache/21915.imgcache
and it wont support things like geometry shaders until OGL 3.0... thats the OGL equivalent of Dx10...which should push OGL far into the lead

As for what OS to use... Just agree with bill :P

the vista components are in general poor imitations of whats bee around since the new millennium in *NIX's.

sorry about the rant... near flaming but thats what I think of vista so far :? :D

Vista. haha.

Sorry but im not going to use an operating system thats just looks all flashy. Correct me if im wrong but vista would seriuosly eat ur system resources just to look nice and shiney (which is completely unnessary for an OS).

IMO... vista a nice easy to use shiney OS for people who dont really know that much about computers. Though, same could be said for all versions of windows. Linux! I say! But since microsoft rules the world... i use XP.

If only a nix system would become more popular than windows.

vista eats too much resources for my taste..it's my ram after all..

also, reading too many people with crashes and probs with graphic softwares...which have been the only reason for me to stay with win oses for now...
Finally making games again!

I'm amazed that someone likes vista. It's the first time i hear someone promoting vista.
If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

Vista is pointless.
If you want your OS to eat more resources than the games you play on it, go ahead and get it.

It's a pathetic excuse for an advancement in the Windows OS and should've been put in the toilet of all project ideas.

Vista is a flashy interface. That's about all. In many ways, Vista is comparable to Apple's new IPhone, of which the outside cover attracts the general public who have money to spend on pure looks. That about sums it up in my mind.

itll show its using ~1/2 the ram no matter the actual RAM amount. i have 2GB and it shows the same thing. its Vista's SuperFetch keeping stuff in cache so it doesnt have to page out and access the hard drive so much, thereby increasing performance
