Modeller?

Post by Phreak »

Howdy all,

I'm not sure if this is the right place, but I'll ask anyway.

I plan on creating an isometric view 3D game, set in the 18th century. My basic idea of the game is a sort of, wizards, vampires etc..

I'd like to have the player start off as a vampire, but theres a problem. When your 15 years old, you don't exactly have a heap of friends who can make models for games. I'm going to ask if someone would be interested (in their spare time) in modelling a few things for me to get my game going. This may also include maps. Basically, I would just like a basic human model, with a couple of animations (which I would describe). Is anyone able to help me out?

Thanks in advance,

Phreak

lol, AMEN to the "When your 15 years old, you don't exactly have a heap of friends who can make models for games." (heh, i'm 15) But there's some times you can find a good person to help with models and gfx. (I use to have to model things myself... ) Now i'm just a straight C++ coder. 8)

Firstly, you are going about it the wrong way. This is basically a programming forum, not going to be any modellers hanging round here that aren't already on a project of their own. You'd need a market you can appeal to, that's why most people remake an old game that has a decent fanbase. Secondly, noone really knows you are serious about doing it. Try getting something people can get excited about or noone is going to care. This will probably mean you are going to have to learn to model at a decent standard.

Modelling 3D models is unique in that it actually doesn't take artistic talent to learn, all you need is to read a lot of tutorials and get some reference images to work from.

The most successful open source projects have a gaming fanbase they can recruit talent from, whereas everyone here is really only thinking about their own project. I'd say for you to try to do an iso game simular to the Legacy of Kain series of games ( prior to the 3rd person camera ones ).
