Any suggestion on hardware for buying new laptop?
That laptop is useless, it has an intel graphics controller. Acer are also good laptops these days, Acer and Lenovo are the way to go.

eeeeyyyeeww. Nasty. Yuck.BlindSide wrote:intel graphics controller
Actually, supposedly those cards are better than they used to be compared to ATI and NVidia, but I wouldn't chance it, especially not for game development.
Also, believe it or not, my HP hasn't given me any problems since I got it, and it hasn't gotten slow on me or anything like that. I've heard nasty things about Dell, but I never believed them. It's like Kia Motors for cars, not that I own one. They are supposed to be crap, but I've heard people who ACTUALLY own them tell me they are fine. The rumors I've heard about Dell being crap tend to come from people who have never had one. I for one haven't, but if I got a new one, I'd probably atleast take a peek at them to see what's on special.
Ok I have been in the shop today and this is what I'm going to buy tomorrow:
Toshiba Satellite A200-14D
It coasts me about 1300$ with a matching bag.
Will Linux and Solaris work on it? WITH Vista AND XP?

1) ensure you receive installation discs. I would never buy any consumer machine without physical installation media.
2) have 2GB RAM if you're using Vista. Not essential, but you may get a better Vista experience (especially if you're using it for development). Plus that laptop above can use some of your sysmem in addition to its VRAM.

I think it's called a desktop pc I'm not sure.
I'm not, not thinking about it too. Well, I saw a desktop which is x2 from the Toshiba's laptop I posted few posts up in half the price and another one with just bit more money and I get a 20 inch wide flat screen so it isn't about power, its about being mobile so I want to at least get the best I can and still have this comfort of being mobile.
PS: I agree desktop > 3k$ Laptop any day but you can't ignore the mobility you get with Laptops, which some people must have..
And yes, I have a fetish for Laptops
Sorry for your time but I'm going for a desktop.
Its my final decision.
But thank you all for your time, I really appreciate it.
PS: A professional advised that if I want a laptop as main computer for programming my budged must be at least 2500$ - 3000$..
*To myself* - I talked to a Real pro in the business, PRO me
Edit:
I was going to open another thread about the Desktop's hardware but she said she is going to help me with that, Yay!
