Hi!
I have som questions i hope you can help me with:
1. I wonder if somebody knows a great tool to create soundtrack/music for games?
2. And a tool for creating effects like jumping, running och smashing stuff like that.
Thanks for your answers //Henkaz
Create soundtrack for games?
there are many tools for doing this...
1. for music "Reason" is a great tool (but expensive) !!!

2. what do you mean ??? I think you think about a 3D editor ???
In my opinion 3DSMax is great for this (but also expensive)...

I think he means animation tool. Irrlicht use skeletal animation so you need one capable of.
Good one is CharacterFX which is pure animation tool. You can use Milkshape3D which does modeling animating and texturing in one package. Both tools are low cost shareware.
There is no freeware tool for animating I am aware of. Check Blender, I am not sure if it handle skeletal animations. There is however never ending problem story with export to some useful format from Blender.
Rest of the options include some over expensive profesional tools like Max or Maya.
Good luck.

I know Audiacity, and it is a Wav editor. You can use it to work on sound effects that you have recorded or downloaded, but if you want to create a soundtrack with it you would have to record it, e.g. play it yourself. If you are not a musician (and you don't have any musicians you can use ) I would recommend something like the Magix Music Maker (I'm sure there are free programs like that, but I don't use these so I don't know).

Sorry but I don't mean to create animations, I mean soundeffects like smashing, jumping. Sorry for the misunderstanding.Acki wrote: 2. what do you mean ??? I think you think about a 3D editor ???

And another thing, the softwares must be free
Usually such soundeffects are not done by software but are recorded. Some studios have soundengineers for that, but many also resort to buying complete sample effect CD's. Which is by the way the reason you hear so many samples over and over in different games and movies ;-)
Unfortunately I don't know of any good & free soundresources for effects. A good community site for that would be great.
Until then I recommend buying a good microphone and start recording (for some strange reason realworldsounds are not yet copyright protected - but I'm sure the record industry will close that loophole soon!).
