Hi. A recently got a new CRT monitor, and I have a question. How would I identify the aspect ratio? I know it's either 5:4 or 4:3, but I can't tell which. When at a 4:3 ratio such as 1024x768, everything looks a bit horizontally squeezed, so squares look like rectangles, etc. At a 5:4 ratio such as 1280x1024, everything looks good, but maybe that's just because that's what I'm used to. Does anyone know?
1280x1024 - so it's at least 5:4 for that resolution.
1280x960 - running in this mode you'll get a 4:3 resolution. Just measure the visible height/width and you should get a rough estimate of the real ratio (the other one will we stretched).
Newwer screen technologies haven't caught up to CRT technology.
CRTs have infinite contrast ratio in a dark room, they don't get dead pixels, or have issues with response time. They also don't suffer from viewing angle limitations, and you can buy new ones to this day.
