It frightened me because i just signed on for the reserves (back up military) when all thiss crap started happening, luckily im in computers so they didnt deploy me , but it .... gah, i hate em

I see these kinds of posts everywhere, in some ways they are true. I just don't agree with some things there and have to go into a ...

*** RANT ***

You guys put him in power, I could moan about Blair but in the end we voted him in. This isn't a dictatorship, it's your problem if you don't like who YOU voted in.

You actually believed we were going to Iraq JUST to get rid of WMD's? You are joking, surely. There were many reasons for going to war but WMD's was no more than a smoke screen. Did you seriously think that Iraq was the only country with WMD's? Or even had a decenet enough supply to sell to anyone?

There's plenty worse places for WMD's than Iraq that everyone already knows about and if you thought that it was actually a main reason to go to war then you were greatly mistaken. Russia, China, India/Pakistan are all far more likely to use them or sell them at the right price, even if their Govements don't actually do it themselves.

Iraq was many things but it wasn't the best place to get WMD's from.

Hate to turn this thread into a political debate but. . .
1) Popular vote elected Al Gore, only thestupid electoral college ahs the final say, and Bush got that because of the messed up Florida voting (where his brother is governor).

2) Some of us never believed the WMD's were there and were against the war from the start, for just about all reasons (real reasons and nominal reasons). I think it sad that Bush lied, but was not really surprised. There is a certain satisfaction from knowing I was right about the war from the start, though I'd rather have been wrong.

... it was even said that they closed down lots of voting cabines in regions al gore was more popular.

I think the american system can't be called democracy. sorry...

(But I was suprised that time to time Bush still has some good poll results)

Lies, damn lies and statistics ;)

Sorry for getting all political there but I do get annoyed sometimes. I supported the war but just wish that they hadn't needed to lie to everyone by saying that there were WMD's there. There's far more dangerous places than Iraq for WMD's and I can't believe that the media didn't pick up on it, in some ways they are no better than propoganda machines IMO.

Whereas I agree that something was shady about the Florida vote, I don't believe that the whole thing was fixed. Even if Gore had won if Florida wasn't tapered with it would have been a close run thing, which means that he must have a lot of support from somewhere. It is the popular thing to do to slag off the goverment and praise the opposition until the opposition get in power :)

Thought for the day: Is it possible to bring an off topic post off topic :P

I think you are right that it was close, Bush did and does have a lot of supporters and I agree that Florida was not totally fixed.

I still hate Bush, however
