Free Project Hosting - Eve-Corp 2.0 Online

Post by saigumi »

Alright, I finally fought my way through Xoops and Xoopsforge and got it to work.

What sucks is that I couldn't get Xoops 2.0 and myXoopsforge (newer than xoopsforge) to work. So, I went to the newest of the stablest.

It's a little murky, and I am working on changing menu names to be more undestandable, but those of you that use Sourceforge should feel right at home.

I'm also putting in a change that will manually add you http://eve-corp.com/sitename and create the ftp account for it. Just like sourceforge, but with direct FTP.

Also, unlike Sourceforge, your application does NOT have to be open source. It can be proprietary, for pay, whatever.

I can convert any old sites currently on Eve-corp to the new site if requested.

Another new perk:
<b>Installation of a Content Management (CM)System</b>

If you want anything like phpNuke, Moveable Type, Pivot, b2, pMachine, Drupal, Geeklog, Mambo, phpWCMS, phpWebsite, Post-Nuke, Siteframe, Xoops, phpBB2, Invision Board, PHPWiki, TikiWiki, etc... let me know and I will install it for you.

Any current members that want their current content migrated from Moveable Type to another system, this is possible.

Installation may take a few days due to my schedule and depending on how long it takes to convert or install.

Do the projects have to be irrlicht?

How much space per site is given?

Any costs?

It's free.
It's shared bandwidth and storage on the entire site, so if you don't go nuts it's not a problem. I have something like 5 gigs of storage and about as much bandwidth per month.

And since it's free, the rule is that it has to be Irrlicht-based. Like a game or tech demo that uses irrlicht.

New project ? ;)
Yep, use the "Register New Project" link. That way, you will get set as the owner of the project. I'll remove your other one after you get set up.

----

On another note, I just made my own logo (f34r my m4d 4rt sk1llz) and added a quick list of all the projects that are currently hosted.

----

On another-nother note, here are some quick stats for Eve-Corp:
16 projects hosted
1 gig of bandwidth used this month so far. :D
0 Banner Ads, Pop-ups, or other wasteful "geo-ites" like junk served

And you think net code for an online shooter will be simpler ? Go to www.gamedev.net, www.gamasutra.com or www.gameai.com or www.ai-depot.com for some gameAI articles.

So till next project then ;)

Ouch, I if 2080 starts being too much of pain in the arse for bandwidth and other projects are suffering then I am willing to chip in for some extra bandwidth. I think I am using a simular system to the one you are using, PHP-Nuke, it appears as though your system is more based around CVS access rather than Nuke which is more forum based. Both are cool however :)

The system I want to use is to be like Sourceforge as much as possible because I found it integrates everything that software development needs.

Project Tracking
Developer Tracking
Task lists
Bug Reporting
Forums
...

I just could never get Savannah, BerliOS Developer, GForge, or myXoopsForge to work. After working on it for a few hours, I believe the functionality is getting easier to use. Other CMS systems like Nuke just didn't have the right mix of tools or structure.

I just rechecked my reseller hosting package, I get 1.5 Gigs of storage and 25 Gigs of bandwidth per month. I don't think Eve-Corp is even making a dent in that. We are only using 100 Megs of space and aren't anywhere near the 25 gig limit yet.

I will redesign my page some time but I think it will take more than a month. I am programming cloth physics and fur in the engine so I can't work the whole time on my page. I have found a modeller so my project still continues :D
Visit my website @ www.venex.be
Plethora project will be added to the site

Alright, if you want it transferred, create a login and Register a new project. That way all the permissions get set properly.

I have the rest set up to transfer automagically.
