Ok, so i have been hiding/busy lately. Not to worry, as a comeback i decided to release this horrible half finished game as a start, i will finish it to the design soon (which will then be a kickass game).

The concept :
The title : antisense

I am going to fill in the story piece by piece as i release the demos. This, is the first release just so you guys know what im working towards!

Its cold in here, but my mind is racing. I have had nothing to eat for over 160 days...maybe they think im dead. My DNA abnormalities might have fooled them but i understand my predicament. i must escape this containment, i must defeat this curse.
Patient file : John Watson-Crick
Human DNA is based on proteins and compunds with hydrogen base pairs. But this patient showed extreme pale skin as a symptom of an irregular DNA genome. This cannot be, as this breaks the rules of what we know. The patient DNA has an element found in RNA, which subsequently breaks the understanding of our own DNA. Below i found this journal on the internet

"ref : Uracil is a pyrimidine which is common and naturally occurring.[1] Uracil was originally discovered in 1900. It was isolated by hydrolysis of yeast nuclein that was found in bovine thymus and spleen, herring sperm, and wheat germ.[2] Uracil is a planar, unsaturated compound that has the ability to absorb light[3]"

This last property is worrying the team and I, is this why his skin is near white in colour? Further examination will be carried out. Patient is in holding until further breakdown of the DNA can be performed.
A few side notes. this entire game is based on the real known and proper research of DNA. All characters, names, even the data you play with in game is based on reality, whats living inside you now. its fascinating stuff, and im pretty certain is gonna make a lot more interesting games after this mini game!
Im really enjoying this, and will continue a series of game based on this, i find it to be quite the fantastical approach to gameplay.
Gameplay hints and more story :

How to play? 
I think the readme tells you im not sure, but its simple. use the +/- signs on the right hand side to assign the creation of proteins (Which collect on the left top) and then u can assign nanobots to make it faster. 
LEFT CLICK : Add, 
RIGHT CLICK , Subtract.
Once you have proteins you spawn them into the DNA builder at the bottom by the buttons on the left top. There was a large series of restrictions but because of the time i had i got owned.

Build a character, using the DNA builder by building proteins (right).
So : Build proteins on the right, assign them to the builder using the left buttons... When the grid is full, you will be show your character stats.
PLEASE NOTE :
This is far from complete. i am just posting cos i will be motivated to finish this. then i will release the source as well, with all elements. For now its "MINIMUM" of playable, it was for a competition and i got sick 2 days before the closing day, so i finished what i cud to have a "game" and not a hud lol. It took me about 8 days to finish this to where it is now, including thinking/design time on the story and all artwork.

Damn the artwork in this game is sooo awesome!

It's a good example of how decent artwork completely changes a game and the perception of the quality of irrlicht!

It's why i think the artwork in the tutorials needs to be updated by someone with the necessary skills.

But then maybe 'n00bs' will think that anything you do in the engine would look that good, even if you make the art yourself and don't have the skills for it...

I agree with the tutorials examples things. with my experience with irrlicht and 3d and blah i felt confident that i cud make some killer new tutorials (a whole set) with new artwork and everything but devs thought it better to have a 17mb folder of fail art :D

no offence to them of course, i understand their priorites.

Anyway, on topic :

Did any of you get to the flashbacK? i found it amusing.

It's true that decent art could well bloat the download... but you could have the tutorials as a seperate download so only people who need the tutorials need to download it and it would shrink the library download as it wouldn't need the media folder anymore.

i've not actually tried the game yet (though may have tried a previous version of it? Or something similar) but i've downloaded it and will try it out later ;)

Does that mean I win?

I didn't find any bugs while playing, so that's pretty impressive. The graphics are good too. So is there any certain combinations that make the DNA better, cuz I just put in random ones. And that thing that popped up made me jump :oops:

yea , i know of a few bugs but they not easy to replicate. anyway,
thanks for testing it . it doesnt mean you win it means you have a character.
What its meant to be :

Missing features :

DNA has structure, you cant put duplicates next to each other, you cant put certain combos because you will die.

a final character.
Whats supposed to happen is you build a character using combinations of colors and stats. this gives you strategy time in whic to create a character. when you finish your character (which must be in 5 or 10 minutes not sure) it will display a full workup, with skills, mods (like wings etc) and all the abilities you managed to rack up. if you dont finish in 5 - 10 minute limit it builds auto-fill values and you could get a sandwich for a hand etc.

The point is a character builder. The final of this project builds a character that will be in its own format (like .lolchr ) and then you use it to "play" against your friends online. there will be a website where there will be fighting, arenas, games, races, all sorts of stuff using your character card from this game. Then you login, upload a character into ur profile, and start working up rank etc :)

This was the aim, with the competition deadline and getting sick i only got so far so atm its kinda pointless but to show how cool irrlicht is :)

Well, that sounds like a pretty good idea to me! Maybe you should show a some basic dna structures in the beginning so the people know what combinations do what.

yea theres a whole play through tutorial that plays with the story. so the "intro movie" is part of the tutorial..
