PROJECT 'REBELS RACING'

Post by noidcoder »

Hi,

My new game project, called REBELS RACING 3D, will be using the IRRLICHT engine. So far I'm quite happy with this engine, very productive.

You may find my development log at http://imersiva.com/blog -- the game is in the early stages...

You may download an old game in the same line (that one used my own homebrew software-rendering engine, and runs at lower resolution, though) here:

http://imersiva.com/get.php?f=fbracer_rc1 (Windows, 1 MB)
(winner of VIVO TECNOLOGIA 2004 competition, Brasil)

I'm not sure this thread meets the requirements of a project announcement, but at least you have some stuff to show!

Are those terrain & water renderings on your blog done with irrlicht? they look very nice!

thank you guys.

yes, the new images posted on the blog are from REBELS RACING, that is being developed entirely with IRRLICHT.

EDIT: of course, at the end of the project, i'll add a credits screen where i'll thank the irrlicht team, people on the forums, etc. great forums, by the way.

It looked cool, until it crashed on me not long into the race

Looking forward to seeing this done in irrlicht with some higher quality, should be cool!

You may wish to check out H-Craft Championship (i think i got that right), it's a commercial hovercraft style racing game like this, done with Irrlicht.

you can see the (old) ships running the game :) i cannot use the old ships anymore, they are (c)opyright of the old game owner, who contracted me to program that version. the new game is being produced by myself. :)

by the way, i'll need some new models for the new game... if anyone is interested on sending me some. but i can only pay IF i make money from this project (we can combine something before it happens). at least CREDITS are guaranteed.

Well, I am just updating status for this project. I decided to learn modeling and stopped programming for a while, until I'm ready to build models for this game.

And, although IRRLICHT is quite a powerful engine, I decided to create another engine of my own.

So I really don't know when it will be finished.

Thank you for the nice comments.

you're wanting to create an engine more powerful than irrlicht? on your own? I don't know exactly how long irrlicht has been in development but it's been more than 5 years and has had a small team working on it so i doubt you can manke your own engine in any reasonable time. I've been putting together an engine for use on PS3 and it's a helluva lot of work!

No, not more powerful, not even close to, but the case here is that part of my excitement comes from writing the engine itself.

Just curious dlangdev, but why do you write your posts with so much whitespace in it. You push enter two times between every line, even if they are related.

That's fair enough, it's certainly good experience to do that so you'll learn a lot and hopefully you'll end up with something really nice that you can be proud of, even more so because you wrote the engine yourself rather than using irrlicht, so good luck on it :)
