So, i was wondering, how many people would like to see Irrlicht ported to the openmoko?
I'll put up a poll for you guys, but, guess what:
IT'S ALREADY DONE!

When banks compete, you win.
When ISPs compete, you win.
When electronics retailers compete, you win.
When governments compete...you get drafted.

I would love to see you port Irrlicht to a linux-based platform supporting OpenGL ES, but, guess what:
IT'S ALREADY DONE!
(Unfortunately, the guys at OpenMoko haven't released the hardware accelerated OpenGL-ES drivers for this phone, and say there are no plans coming up any time soon.)

Just some stats.cause they are ultra weak in my opinion. what kinda programs could you do for them? you cant even reach psx graphics.
Openmoko:
400MHz (but faster the old computer CPUs at 400MHz)
128mb ram
Playstation:
33MHz
2mb ram
you should be able to reach psx.
don't know about the stats on the graphics card, but it seems alright.

i checked wiki, you're right, the neo freerunner version of openmoko is indeed a powerful device. my bad.
it was released last month, if wiki is correct.
at a price of 400 dollars, it ramains to be seen if openmoko will have any success or not. i know not 1 single person who own this phone. you would be developing for a niche audience right away, and then there's still the possibility, that the few people who would be able to run your application aren't really interested in it.

The price of the Neo and Freerunner are artificially high because they're made by an independent manufacturer who only produced a few units. Once the OpenMoko platform is stable and proven it will allow other manufacturers to make cheap Linux handsets, hopefully this will mean that eventually the majority of future cheap handsets will be running OpenMoko.lpersona wrote: at a price of 400 dollars, it ramains to be seen if openmoko will have any success or not. i know not 1 single person who own this phone. you would be developing for a niche audience right away, and then there's still the possibility, that the few people who would be able to run your application aren't really interested in it.
Give OpenMoko 5 years and I think it will be a major player in the mobile-OS market, and any apps you write for it today could have a massive user-base in the future.
If you want to be part of something massively popular, low-bandwidth OpenStreetMap.org routing software for the OpenMoko has the potential to be more popular than Google Maps.
