Good Afternoon everyone my name is Markus aka Daystar. I am working on starting a software/hardware manufacturing company. The company's name is SyncWare, as of now it is unlicensed but after the first product has been competed we will move forward into the license phase and begin to seek out investment angel.
Project Name:
2030
Brief Description:
2030 is a first person shooter real time strategy massive multiplayer online(FPSRTSMMO). The story takes place in the year 2030, where technology has advance to its highest point. But with new technology comes new vulnerabilities, so the government put together a new policing agency called Cyber X. In the game you will play as one of the members of Cyber X and help eliminate cyber crimes. As you play the game you will learn more about how the passing years built up to what is 2030, and you will encounter a plot twister which is since in 2030 every one is implanted with a cybernetic neural implant they are vulnerable to attacks like any other computer so you will find out about how the same government that put Cyber X together wants to control the earth's population through those implants. In this case you will be faced with a decision to fight with or against the government.
Target Aim:
Targeted for retail
Compensation:
SyncWare will initially work on a revenue type payment and that will only be once the product has started generating an income, then in later projects we'll move to a salary based payment plan. Additional Information:
I am currently working at my home office, so anyone interested in working for SyncWare doesn't have to be in Philadelphia we are currently working on a SVN server. We currently have the story outline and a couple concepts for the GUI done. Under development now is a beta to test the games features.
A GUI Concept:
FPS Mode for Game
SyncWare needs a programmer whos familiar with Irrlicht
When I made my first post in this forum, I joked that I was gathering a team for a FPSRTSMMO that had no funding.
Just a funny coincidence.
I would suggest being more specific about the game's genre, core features, scope and estimated time to complete. I think it'd be hard for most people to comprehend what a FPSRTSMMO is without description.

I'm saying this because I want you to succeed.
I can't see anything substantially different from your first announcement.
There's still no hint as to what a FPSRTSMMO is, why it would be fun to work on one, or why anyone would want to play it.
A commercial FPS or RTS or MMO would normally take a minimum of 20 people in the order of 3 years to complete. You're therefore looking at 180 man years of work. Apparently you intend to work on this part time, and so presumably your (unpaid) staff will too, so now we're at 360 elapsed man years.
I know you won't believe that, so let's pretend (although it's utter fantasy) that you know some magic method of doing this project - one that nobody else has ever achieved - using volunteer staff who can't get a better, paying, job elsewhere in only 3 elapsed years with 20 people.
Staff time is usually costed at $100,000 per year per seat, but we'll assume that most of your staff (not the lawyers and accountants, obviously) will be happy to receive $50,000 per year in delayed royalties for their 3 years of contributions. That's still $3,000,000 of voluntary investment you're asking for, and that's using our fantasy productivity assumptions: the real figure is more like $9,000,000.
Since you don't intend to incorporate until completion, and apparently still haven't considered contracts or rights assignments, it appears that you're asking each contributor to give you three years and over $150,000 each worth of their work, in return for which you may, if you feel like it, give them something back later. Or you may not, depending on what sort of mood you're in. That's a huge amount of trust that you're asking for.
It simply doesn't appear as though you personally are seriously committed to this project, that you understand the magnitude of the task that you're taking on, or that there's any realistic hope that it will complete.
This may be an unfair assessment. You may know something about project management that nobody else does, but if so, you might want to consider showcasing some of the results of that competence in order to attract the calibre of contributors that your project will need, i.e. the very best people in the world, who are willing to work for nothing.

Anyone who can program irrlicht good does not need to give their time for free to anyone for any reason. Your looking at the wrong forum for free labor because the people here are not idiots.

Indeed; I can prove that I'm an idiot, because FreakNigh managed to condense my novella into two sentences.Seven wrote:I resent that!FreakNigh wrote: because the people here are not idiots.
