Asked about textures

Post by Viz_Fuerte »

Hi I'm viz_fuerte, is the first time I put something in the forum XD, congratulations on the engine Irrlich.

I have a question a little weird at this point but that interests me.

That resolution of texture and form advised me to a game at 640x480 resolution window?

512x512 (looks good but takes a little more)
256x256 (I think it would be nice)

I want to do is fps in a window, but that does not occupy too much and that is good.

thanks in advance

Im spanish xD, utilizo un traductor.

In English:

if the game will only run at 640x480, 256x256 of size is very good, i for the game that we are making (MMOFPS) are using 512x512 basically because most of people today have graphic cards with 128mb or more i dont think that use 512x512 textures will slow down the performance a lot, aswell it looks better with that resolution.

We're programmers. Programmers are, in their hearts, architects, and the first thing they want to do when they get to a site is to bulldoze the place flat and build something grand. We're not excited by renovation:tinkering, improving, planting flower beds.

Yes, the truth is that with 512x512 textures it is big, but for a windows game it looks too big. (it says for the archive size)

After, if it passes to screen completely and more resolution I saw already.

Hi,
Do not hesited to use big textures cos now a days everyone is using graphic cards on their comp. comparable to that 512x512 is too small. i am using sizeless textures that is 128x512, 512x1024 etc, depending upon the model.
