Anyone making anything similar to Oni?

Post by dingo »

Are there any prokects that are similar to the Bungie game Oni?

Similar elements would be
-3rd person camera
-bone animation
-hand to hand combat

Yeah I think it rocks too.

I was thinking that making a game similar wouldn't be impossible using Irrlicht so I yhink I'll have a go at it.

Just wanted to know if anyone else was creating anything like it already

Hm, i have idea - make network addon to Oni or network release. It's very easy to grab levels and models from game...

Oni was great! Well, do be honest, it could have done with alot of improvement. I'm not concerned with graphics that much but the gameplay could've been better (it sucked that you could take on a boss easily but still get beaten thoroughly by two or three 'weaker' enemies).

My favourite aspects of the game were the focus on hand to hand combat (more games should be like this) and the fact that the game just felt like an anime.

only illegal if you copy it directly - reverse engineering on the other hand.....
then a clean room approach...then wipe your own knowledge then build a complete new but similar model...
