The game I made
I made a game for my brother for christmas, and I need someone to test it out a little. I need someone to test the AI because I know how my code works, and I can unconsiously clobber the AI without realizeing how much damage I've done. Keep in mind this is my first 3D game with Irrlicht. You will need,
: A gamepad/joystick ( mine is a logitech dual action )
: Windows (I use XP)
to play you use, the analog stick to move left and right, buttons 2 and 3
are both attack, 4 is jump, down on the hat is your final smash (if you got the smash ball) you have to hold it down or the attack will end, and up on the hat is the only move that can break the smash ball. I'll post updated downloads as the project goes on.
Here's the download

P.S
some of the buttons are'nt titled yet, and only the first stage and first characters work right now.

I think a gamepad-only title for PC is a bad idea, unless you want to cut out about 85-90(?)% of users. But I checked the intro screen out and seems fun even though I can't play it.
Anyway, congrats for finishing your first game! Tips for next time: make game also playable on keyboard and create folder for your media assets. ATM everything looks really cluttered (and it gets messier when you have more files)

ahah I played using my Xbox 360 controller! But... excellent game. Well, you stole the music from Super Smash Bros. Brawl haha but nice, man!
There should be an ending thing where whoever gets to 999 first wins and also if someone falls they lose.
Good job though
(Now I actually have to start making a game.. )

Post this userbar I made on other websites to show your support for Irrlicht!

I don't like to comment on internet forums... but in this case I have to.
3DModellerMan: you are awesome.
You're a little kid who has no job. As a result of only being alive for a couple years you don't know or have much. You could have just gone shopping with your parents and got your little brother some random toy but instead you decided that despite the fact that you didn't know anything about computer programming or game making you were going to create a video game for your brother. And you did. Well played.
You guys should lighten up on the joystick hate. "90% of your market share eliminated." Incorrect. 100% of his market share was his younger brother - who does have a joystick. As for him posting it here? He said he wanted people who could test to test.
This just feels like one of those Christmas Miracle movies from the 60's.

I totally agree with you. I think I have to test this at home! Man I like it if people are happy about presentsaanderse wrote:I don't like to comment on internet forums... but in this case I have to.

hmmmm
It crashes when you hit the first button?. My brother and I have the same kind of computer, and it works fine on mine. Maybe it's a problem with your's being Vista maybe?. It does use SDL for joystick input, so if you're using mac or linux, it might be because I've used the win32 SDL. I've now added the ability to shield to the AI and 2 player support player 2's final smash now damages player1 if someone could test multiplayer that would be nice as I'm still waiting for my second joystick. I made a few games before with The Games factory, but it being little more than a toy to play around with, I picked up a C++ book and started programming, besides smash bros is 2D in 3D. I'll test it out on my mom's computer though since you mention the menu bug. I'm also planning on putting in a walking animation for the AI to. Someone said it works with an X360 controller?. I'm still working on the timed brawl and K.O counter.
So here's the updated download.
