Dude, talking about a punch in a book 20 years later, a movie 10 years later or a game 5 years later is considered fair game. If you haven't seen it by then, it's either you're not that interested in it in the first place, or you'll have learned most things about it by cultural osmosis anyway.

calm down bro i just wanna learn some game dev stuff. something similar to pong remake/tetris remake but the difference is I'm not remaking any game just the storyline is similar. we are currently working fulltime on the design doc and concept art so hopefully can start to model/program real soon. 8)

Keep it up, bro. Nice to see you chugging both art and code again.

heh, guess you've got a point dorth ;)

but yeah, developing even simple tetris-clones can prove to be great learning experiences, and your pitch certainly has more substance.
So go for it whether its been done before or not. Chances are, the look and style of the game would help give it fresh outlook anyway.

What's your problem, honestly?

At any rate, on a note to Virion. I just read your blog post, and I want to say that I didn't mean to put your storyline "down". It was just funny. But seriously, I'm actually a fan of the storyline.

Hehe, seems Virion is having a hard time keeping up with people around here.

One thing I'll tell you, Virion, just keep going. You just never know what will turn up later. A year ago, I started learning about Irrlicht, Humus3D, TGEA--seriously. And then later after several months, someone noticed my postings from another forum and I got an offer from a smallbiz game company.

Keep going and aim high. Go for shader programming and all that jazz. It will get you somewhere higher than where you are now.

no problem, all cool. I'm an instinctive poster, post first, think later. Sorry if I hit a nerve. :)

dlangdev
did you really get an offer? so what happened, did you get a chance at working on any projects?

IMO, shaders don't make great games, gameplay does. Get the gameplay going, then shaders would help take the game to the next level.

virion
sorry for going all off-topic

Oh, okay, I was just wondering. Very well then, haha, it's cool on this end as well.
