One irrlicht space unit is equal to...?

Post by tewe76 »

It's hard for me to explain it in english, let's see...
What scale do you usually use? In the quake3 examples i can see that the doors are about 150 units height, so we can consider 1 meter = 50 units.
OK.
But when modelling (i use wings3d), creating a model 100 height is not usual (eg: default size for primitives is 2x2), it's a little uncomfortable.

So, my question is: will i have some problem if i consider 1 meter = 1 unit? So a buddy will be 2 units, a vehicle 5x2, etc, which seems comfortable when modelling in wings3d.

What i'm concerned about is default values for distances in the engine (lights, farclip, mindistance in irrklang, etc).

Which equivalent do you use to use in your projects?

units are completely arbitrary and anywhere that they would matter (such as clip distances or irrklang) they can be edited to suit your adopted units.
