-CLOSED-[Help wanted] Programmer needed for Online FPS!
Team Name: Ploronex Entertainment
will change it to something better soon)
Brief Description: An Online FPS game that takes place in blockland, where all characters are blocks, and the environment is made of simple cartoonistic geometry. Players are made of block-like characters, when you shoot their arm they'll lose it and start bleeding blocks. The game will be a very simple online FPS at first, which leaves us a large amount of time and effort to focus on content. We plan to have a large number of weapons to the nature of "yes, this is a joke", ranging from lollypop beams to chainsaw cannons. 90% of the time making this game will be spent creating pure content.
Target Aim: Noncommercial, though we may decide to sell in the future if the game proves good enough.
Compensation: No compensation other than experience, again unless we decide to sell in the future, in which case a revenue share will be given.
Technology: Irrlicht Engine, Blender, Adobe Photoshop, FL Studio
Talent Needed: C++ Programmer (1 needed). Must have a reasonable amount of experience in C++. Knowledge of Irrlicht is a plus, but it can be learned on the job. You will be responsible for the creation of the game framework as well as programmatic content. Some tasks you will coordinate with other programmers, others you will do alone. You should be able to be given an assignment and complete it in a reasonable amount of time. 3-6 Hours of time per week is a must, 8+ is even better.
Team Structure:
Andrew Yoon (me): Level Designer and Team Leader
Aristo Wibowanto: 3D Modeler
Darknoodles: 3D Modeler
Nick Tenhue: Texture Artist
Tanner: Website Manager/Programmer
Trevor: Music Composer
Website: Currently being wiped and changed, if you went there it wouldn't make any sense so I won't bother.
Contacts: email: chwaga[at]gmail.com MSN: chwaga[at]live.com Please don't use the PM system as I don't frequently check it!
Previous Work by Team: We originally were producing a game called Second Threat for 8 months, but we couldn't pull it through because of its complexity
Additional Info: We came up with the idea for this game with simplicity in mind. If you ever wanted to make a game where you can just focus on the content, this is the project for you! We hope that this game will become a creative game that isn't necessarily different from other online FPS games, but fun simply because of its design, art style, and content. In the past we've had serious trouble with team members disappearing without notice (which is what did Second Threat over), if you are that kind of person, please don't apply. You can see some samples of music by our composer here.

This meets the criteria for a Project Announcement, so I've moved it there.
I like the simplicity of the concept, but would (constructively) suggest that you list a USP that would entice players to play your game rather than any of other free/commercial FPS currently available.
Anyway, good luck with your recruiting.

That sounds funny. Reminds me of LegoDeath (http://www.thescreamonline.com/strange/strange3-1/)

Yes. At the moment, your USP is "crappy graphics". Perhaps you can list something more positive?Chwaga wrote:Thanks for that, by USP did you mean unique selling proposition?

Hey. I'm actually going to be heading this project (at least I'll be doing the coding).
Sorry to say, but I think it's way too early to make an announcement, so if you're interested, feel free to stop by our forums and say hi, maybe show off to us, but for now, unless you have a strong interest, don't worry about it. Hopefully we will have some cool stuff to show off later though
Andrew: Please, don't post topics in other forums immediately; We haven't actually finalized a switch yet, and we still need to reorganize our current team...
