To clarify, developers can use a single-layer or dual-layer Blu-ray disc which is 25 GB and 50 GB, respectively. Resistance 2 made use of ~19 GB of a single-layer while Killzone 2 allegedly uses 40 GB of a dual-layer. The list goes on, but you can reseach more if you want to.Sylence wrote:The point is that there will be no game for the PS3 that will use the 50GB on a BluRay.
So it is nonsense to compare the 9GB of an XBox DVD with the 50GB of a PS3 BluRay.
At any rate, if I recall correctly, a Microsoft exclusive game called Lost Odyssey came out some time ago and required 3 or 4 dual-layer DVD discs to hold everything. This raises the cost for the developer to produce one unit and possibly the cost that the end-user must pay. Not to mention the inconvenience. In the end, all of that could have fit on to one dual-layer blu-ray.
To simply cast aside the difference in discs is senseless. It certainly matters.
