But now I need big meshes (>64k) so I need Irrlicht 1.5 But all code for characters (loading, management, shoot raycasting uses Q3ModelSceneNode with my little modifications.... but rejected the view that nobody had given him great interest.

Hi Yurkis, i think it's not a good idea to use large meshes with MD3 models. In my experience, these models consume too much memory, since each frame is a different mesh. Hello everyone, again. At the end I decided to incorporate the necessary changes, to develop the code to new versions of Irrlicht, 1.5.0 and 1.5.1. There is promise in a short time, then do not have much time to develop, but I promise to finish it.
