Howdy, Im James, 19 and from Australia.
Im only in my 2nd year using C++, so I might be classed as a newb still. But eh, my story:
I've been using RPG Maker 2000/2003 for nearly 5 years (well, less game making, more involved with Spriting LOG stuff), then I moved to DarkBASIC Pro for about 60 days (the amount of trial time all up using both my active e-mail accounts ).
Realising I wasnt getting any closer to my dream of Game Programming, I signed up for a Games Development course, which is great, it teaches C++, VisualBASIC.net, Game Design (story, level design, etc), AI, and Graphics. So yes, I've been learning that, and after using SDL all of last year, we finally started getting into the good stuff, Irrlicht, so Im pretty much a total newb in Irrlicht, and am just starting to explore the power of the Engine. Having a blast, doing so. =]
So yeah... hi ^_^

I'm James, one of the developers working on the newly announced Star Ruler title. I'm 23 years old and live in the Dallas area of Texas. I'm a student at Richland College and am currently balancing working on this title and my college courses. I hope to graduate in one or two years with an Associate's Degree in Game Design and then graduate from UNT or UTD with a Bachelor's in Game Design; specializing in level design and scripting.
ThyReaper is my boss and the President of Blind Mind Studios. He's a little younger than me but he knows far more than I could hope to about programming. I'm more of an artist and level designer/scripter hybrid with a little core programming knowledge under my belt. I mostly know basic programming logic and a little of each C++, Python, and Basic. My first exposure to programming was ZZT's OOP language and I suppose my greatest claim to fame is that I've used nearly every level editing software that has ever been released with a commercial game project.
Star Ruler is the first commercial title I've ever worked on but I have focus tested many popular titles from big name companies and am prolific in beta/alpha testing other studios' game software. I have been playing games since I was 6 years old so it's only natural I suppose that working in the industry is what I'd like to do for the next several tens of years. I'd love to be a part of the group of people who finally take away much of the societal stigma surrounding videogames and electronic entertainment. I enjoy researching innovative technology, human interface devices, and game and level design in my spare time.
My longterm goals are to bring some of the fantastic gaming ideas I've had rolling around and cooking on the backburner to life and to be successfully, and gainfully, employed in the gaming industry as a quality content creator.

I'm Rob Alexander, a 33 year old coder working for an insurance company (sigh), started out with C/C++ at uni and first job, but currently employed in C#/VB.NET development hence the slight rustyness of my C++, though after playing with irrlicht for the past year or so that is passing.
Currently developing a 3d media front end for the HD tv attached to my ubuntu box, recently scaled down the project to a pure video player as my goals were too wide to get a release out. The dream isnt lost however and will be built up in a more sensible manner.
The project was started in pure openGL, switched to openTK before finally deciding that irrlicht contained pretty much everything that I needed.
If anyone is wondering why I would use a game engine in this manner, my logic is such that I get bored with having a high power machine and most media front ends catering for much lower spec computers.
It is also great fun to play with graphics (rather than insurance and web pages), and thanks to you all who have been patient and replied to my posts, I do my best not to ask stupid or answered questions. I will do my best to share some decent code with you all.

Started programming when I was about 7 year old, some basic stuff in VB6. As I grew up I found out that I learn programming languages really fast. I learnt C++ when I was 10 or 11. Then learned Java Mobile Edition, JavaScript, then C# & VB.NET and finally HTML+CSS+PHP+MySQL. I can't afford software that I need for my games so I have to download pirated versions (bad). I'm completely self-taught (started with some books and then tutorials on the Net) because there is no one who knows C++ in my town. About a year ago started with 3D math, learned trigonometric functions, euler angles, 4x4 matrices, shadow mapping, quaternions and some other algorithms. Currently developing a free game Lost World Zeta, I hope something will come out of that. And yes, on the Serbian competition in informatics I scored first place. But the challenges were funny there.

GeoMaster id love to see some of your work. People are starting younger and younger and your list of languages is quite impressive. Any chance of seeing some code / work?

Well, not programming languages in my opinion, but if Geomaster mentiones them I will do it as well: (X)HTML (started in 1997), SQL, Oracle Scripts

Impressive. My first app was when i was 5 but i gave up later and come back when was 15 :p

My name is Rory, I am 14, I live in Brisbane, Australia and I first started programming in C++ a few years ago. I also know HTML, CSS and a bit of Python. Me and a couple of my friends are currently working on a FPS game, although it is still at a very basic level of development (concept drawings, planning, etc..).

Hi my name is Aaron age 21 and I am from the Florida in the U.S. I go to school for chemical engineering but I have always loved video games. Last year I decided to try and educate myself a bit on the topic. I learned C++ last year mostly got up to around classes and then this year for engineering I learned MATLAB which is really easy. Hopefully soon I can jump into Opengl and D3D.

I'm David, 20, British (hence colour ), in the middle of a physics degree and know.. erm.. C++, objective C, Visual Basic, Java, HTML/javascript/css (obv.), PHP, mySQL, actionscript, basic matlab (if that counts), some very basic assembler, and learning the shader languages now. Also some obscure ones if anyone knows them; STOS (way-old), Multimedia Fusion (event-based, not really a language), and Jamascript (sadly dead now). Started with STOS when I was too young to remember.
Projects: nothing really, although a few of my things have found their own way around the internet, some good, some bad, and most with appalling spelling

I think it's pretty weird to see people say that they have been programming since they were 5 to 10 because I am sorry to tell you that it has been proved that your brain is still only an emotional tool and an information gatherer, you are passive and can't think by yourself at such a young age...
So I don't really know what you get from saying that, but you are making fools or yourselves...
