Bad karma

Why do the worst things always happen to the best people :x

I dont know if its any help but maybe if your having problems you could use URL redirection until it all settles down?
http://www.kickme.to/

and get an address like
http://www.kickme.to/saigumi
Pointing to whichever server your using? (if one goes down you just update your kickme account to point to the new URL)

Or my favorite (thought its slow I think)
http://www.dot.tk/

Never mind, silly idea.

Well, the problem is that all the content is locked in a box in a room without power.

I've already begun setting the DNS addresses for all my old domains to point to the new dedicated server and they should begin showing up again today.

The bad thing is that now the old co-location center says that they will bring everything online so that we can access the machines, but we have to pay them to help restore it.

The phrase that comes to mind is "hostage situation".

Since my provider just paid for a 3 month contract last month with the colocation center, I'm hoping that they'll kick it on without any legal threats so that I can pull a full backup.
Crud, how do I do this again?

I don't know about in US but that situation here would be taken to Trading Standards, that is if the server is in the US. Threatening them with legal action should change their minds a little. Like you say, hopefully it doesn't go that far.
