4X Interactive: Looking for people to help with 4X game.

Hi i am galaxy366 :D , founder of 4X Interactive.

I want to make a game that is set in space, a 4X game, like sins of a solar empire, but then much deeper. While i am still working on the doc i am searching for people that know how Irrlicht works.

A new way to play the game:
-A fully dynamic, procedural generated universe, where everything happens, from dying stars, to the birth of new star systems.
-Rich diverse planets that are all different, from gas giant to little asteroids, and all are colonization if you researched the technology.
-The tech tree will have a great choose op options, from infrastructure to the military and beyond.
-Easy to use interface that will only display the most important information, here by keeping the interface size to a minimum.

I am still looking at what the game will be, but for now it will be set in space, and will be a 4X RTS game.

I would definitely get you wrong :? ( not trying to be mean )
Hes got a good idea and without a good team it would be a suicide to make this kind of project.
On the other side he needs to show some more of his work, concept art, game design in order to interest other people to join his team :wink:

I have no problem with someone having a great idea and needing one or two extra programmers/modelers/whatever because the project is too big.

Another completely different thing is someone having what he calls a great idea but 0 skills, and expecting someone to make all the work for him.
And i have a feeling this is the latter case.

One tip, everyone has ideas, but few people have free time to execute those ideas. Now why would someone sacrifice their short time to execute YOUR idea?

If you had previous experience as a game designer and did something remarkable, perhaps you'd have a chance, but right now we have no information about you, what you did previously, what you can do or anything.

Basically what you post says is:

I have this really badass idea, and I want someone really good to execute it for me.

Your chances of finding someone are very slim to none, believe me.

Why do you assume he has 0 skills? and why you say that others are doing work for him ?

It's a non paid project and everyone that goes into team understands that he does this for himself either to improve his skills or to check what he is capable of.

And Why not? if you think that the idea is attractive and you think that you could help somehow or even bring that idea to life, why not give it a try?

Even if a project would become a failure it would still leave some positive marks for everyone that was involved into it.

List of people & skills for joining
- Sound artist 0/2
- Programmer 0/3
- Art Direction 0/1
- Project lead 1/1
- Concept artist 0/4
- Dedicated texture artist 0/2
- Level designer 0/3
- FX artist 0/2

Required skills
-Strong and analytic level design skills
-Must have solid understanding of game play scripting and/or programming
-Ability to learn fast, take initiative with assigned tasks and follow through creative and technical troubleshooting
-Strong communication skills
-Solid understanding of C++.

Bonus skills
-Preferred working with 3D max or Maya etc.
-Experience working with Irrlicht or other game authoring packages.
-Experience working with Agile production teams.
-Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator etc.
-Good sense of humor.

my advice is, try to start the project yourself first. another thing is, use some other full featured engine such as unity or udk. it's much easier for you to your game prototype done.
