Ok so I finally got my game working! so here is a preview!

It will be officially released tomorrow at Buenz.li but you can download the "preview" here (Linux version is hopefully gonna reach stability tonight) :

Windows (win32)
Mac OS X (32bits)

I use Irrlicht & IrrKlang for the sound and... nothing else!

Thank to all the people from the forum that helped me, I will add the Irrlicht logo for the final release tomorrow. enjoy!

In case of bugs or remarks just post here!

That's fun, at first I didn't understand but the tutorial helps a lot.
However, playing the tutorial, when I had to destroy the tree, after like 10min all my trees had been destroyed in 1 time (about 30) :o

Indeed interesting work. Nice idea. Not the FPS and MMORPGs (no offence) we see from time to time.

IMO the trees are too big, and sometimes its hard to see very well- I would make them about 50% smaller if I was you.

@stefbuet and roelor: I think this is the point- You have one Mother tree you need to protect from the other trees with your children-trees or sth similar. :P

Ok here is new version! Plants are smaller (as suggested) and some pictures of the game.

Windows (32-bits)
Mac OS X (Universal)

3 pictures, one of the title window, one in game, one of the planet editor.

I'm gonna make the "final" release for the contest in like 3 hours if some one has another remark...

Have fun!

It doesn't work :( First there was this issue with font not loading. That I got fixed by extracting the media.zip as well. Then the launcher worked but the game crashes on startup... i tried D3D8, 9 and OpenGL modes and fullscreen and windowed :(

The game looks nice though (from the pictures :))

crash

Post by anirul »

Ok found the bug probably due to weird OSX/Windows cross problems...

I will upload the corrected version as soon as the bandwidth here allow that!

keep you updated!

The first time I tried it on 1680x1050 Dx9 it crashed too. Then I tried fullscreen 800x600 with Dx8 (IIRC) and it worked. OS is XP.

i really like the game idea and it plays ok. but the i have to kill the enemy trees is not really intuitive. you should automate that by introducing a tree that attacks other trees automaticly.

I agree.
Moreover, the axis mesh is alway drawn beside transparent water. So if you look at it with a big angle, you will see it entirely under water.
No crash for me.
