Character animation: Morph target VS. Skeletal animation

Post by andy0482 »

From the features page under character animation is says that when you load an .X file that the animation type used is Skeletal Animation. Is there a way I can change this to Morphing animations? If not does anyone know of a way to convert a .x file to a format will let me use morphing?

Thanks

you can use Milkshape3d with the DX tools. This way you can import your x file, then convert it to an mdl which is morph-animation based.

another program that would import the x file would be Unwrap3d. But it's got no animation capabalities, only for texturing.

those would be my 2cs

why would you want to convert from skeletal to morph animation? Skeletal animation is a little slower (so perhaps that's you reason?), but it saves memory and has more flexibility.
You do a lot of programming? Really? I try to get some in, but the debugging keeps me pretty busy.
