Okay...
I purchased a cheap 720p 60hz 32" LCD online. It arrives with an artifact (not really a dead pixel, sort of two lines that ran perpendicular at the bottom of the screen) so I sent it back, and then got a Sony Bravia LCD, once again 32" @720p. That had a horrible mura (I think that's the right word), so I returned it. I then added some of my recent paycheck to my fund and got a 1080p 42" LCD HDTV. DEAD PIXEL. I am returning it this weekend.
I'm wondering... how much more luck would I have with a decent (~$400) projector? I've seen some good reviews on Amazon, and as long as there are no artifacts or whatnot, I can deal with 720p instead of 1080p (It's just as much of a computer monitor as it is a TV for me, so 720p is what I'm running games at anyway). Sound won't be an issue since I have a nice speaker system already. Or should I look for another TV? Either way, can anyone offer suggestions?
I want my forth TV to be decent.
What really annoys me is that my $75.00 15" Acer LCD with a viewing angle of about 2 degrees still works like a charm.
Fed up with HDTV search
Anteater, nice
About cheap monitors:
if monitor is cheap it will always have some artifacts. They are usually from expositions and offices, so prices is very low.
The best way to get cheap LCD is to find somewhere near your location, drive to monitor seller, check that is everything OK with monitor and buy, otherwise you will save money on shipments of bad monitors back to shops.

Aside from the first one, I have been buying from places near me. That's a good idea about checking the monitor before buying it. I'll have to do that when I get my fourth (!) one.
Also only the first one was really cheap. I was thinking the Sony would serve me as well as my PS3. I suppose I was wrong.
