GTA 3 in Irrlicht

Image

well, i think i finally might have something which looks nice enough.

since displaying GTA worlds in Irrlicht seems to be some kind of obsession for me, i did a lot of bugfixing for my project, so now the world looks much better and accurate.

thanks to the creators of the ATMOsphere and RealisticWater scene nodes, both of which i use for this project.

also thanks to everyone on the forums who helped me.

Ray3D testing room:
Image

This is where I test all changes made to the Ray3D engine.

The room is a big bump mapped and textured 3DS cube.

The red guy is an experimental black-ICE model I threw together and the
hand and weapon are two other models I threw together. All B3D's.

Yea, I used Irrlicht's demo billboards/particles, which are basically clones
from quake 3. Curiously though, I've never had the chance to play Q3.

Loki, your scene is nice but the water is horrible (or heavily polluted with blue paint! :D )
You would only change the color of your water and it would be fixed. The color in your picture is unrealistic (the blue is extremely pronounced).

You could take photoshop and a real picture (not GTA) of a river, once you have the proper RGB value, put that into your water.

I also used the realistic water scene node a long time ago (2007). (Note: I had tweaked a little the shaders at the time, your result may be different.)
Here is my "watercolor" I used for the realistic water scene node in my old demo:

Code: Select all

WaterColor(0.1f, 0.1f, 0.6f, 1.0f), ColorBlendFactor(0.2f)
Here is what the water looked like in that old demo (irrlicht 1.3.1, DX9.0):

@christianclavet Wow this is very nice, but why do you use irrlicht 1.3.1 and not 1.7.2?

that's his "old demo". he did it long time ago, before irrlicht 1.7 existed.

@devsh this is nice. :D merge it with ambient occlusion would be perfect :P
