Why nobody thinks that maybe there is actually nothing behind ( or perhaps a large lake or the sea, for instance ;) ) ?

Each block actually has 4 states of dry/wet and now we will add rain, snow etc.
After it has rained or you water an area via. pipes the vegetation can grow,
but slowly the water will sink down and evaporate, and eventtually dry out the blocks,
and vegetion will die out.

We have planned for a long time to give the lightsystem a complete overhaul,
which includes better light, shadows, 2km view distance and more. We didn't start this work yet,
but have talked back and forth about this quite a lot, so it fits a block/voxel world best.
Recently we got access to a few of NVidia dev's (this was not easy) and have had a long very interesting email conversation
going with them, about different techniques and objects. That's all we can say for now. Stay Tuned :-)

The minecraft clone feeling disappeared long long ago, huh?... At this rate, i know the answer is no, but why keeping the cubes? why not swapping to smoother shapes so the world looks better? With the cubes the world felt consistent, but the train looks (awesome but) out of place in the cubic world, perhaps if the railways were done out of cubes, and the coaches looked like pixelated it would be homogeneous. Just my two cents :)

Thanks for the video! I really enjoyed watching it! As for what MEL said, perhaps if you can(You already have accomplished so much already!) smooth out the nature elements blocks.

You can check this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CPpcF4ycPU
Looking at the video, when the cube touch each other, it smooth out. (Like a blob) (Geometry shaders?)

Build railway systems, control them remotely or control them as the driver of the train,
or be a passenger on a automated train. Connect wagons and load the wagons with freight.
Make sure you produce enough electricty for the electro-trains, or fuel the diesel-locos with diesel.
Real sounds and real trainscrashes too ;-)
