How to covert Halflife models (MDL) to Quake 2 format (MD2)

Post by Bobo Rasta »

Has anybody an idea how to covert Halflife models (MDL) to Quake 2 format (MD2) so that i can use them with Irrlicht?

I'm not a modeller so i must take what i can get and i got more Halflife models than models for Q2. Or has anybody a good link to a page with many good Quake 2 models???

Milkshape 3D can decompile and convert between most formats, including HL and Q2. The problem is that HL has a skeletal animation system, and Q2 is a mesh/vertex animation system, so converting the animations is not something I'd want to get involved with.

i think you would be better off decompling the HL files then leaving them as milkshape files. Irrlicht can import milkshape files so there is no need to convert to md2

Good point :). Of course, that limits you to one animation per model.
