Terrain

The new terrain renderer feature is great! I really like it. :D
But I wanted to know Niko how did you make the heightmap and the texture that include a lightmap.
What tool did you use? Terragen?
Because in the tutorial, you simply load the 2 pictures. but I still don't know how to generate them.

You could use the heightmap to create a terrain in 3DSMAX.
Then you texture the terrain, add lightsources, render to texture and use it instead of the former texture.

That's what I'd do but again, I'm not an artist...

You could try a terrain editor with a built in lightmap creator, such as http://www.freeworld3d.org[/url]
Pentium M Centrino 2.2Ghz
1.5GB DDR2
6800 Ultra Go 256MB
80GB 5400 rpm
17"

The way I do it...

There's a game called Battlefield 1942... unknown one)))

It has just a great map editor called Battlecraft... When you create a map using this editor you get a height (.raw) map and huge lightmaped (.jpg) texture in editor's TEMP folder... Also you can use your own textures during designing...
