Anyway, I think a thankyou is in order for his continual work on Irrlicht as he heads towards 0.12.0 with a lot of promised fixes it must be a hard time for him (though also enjoyable - as there is no feeling like crossing a few bugs off the "to-do" list)
So Thanks Niko for Irrlicht and the on-going development. May I suggest when it reaches version 1.0 that you put up a "donation" link (pay pal or something) so that you can be rewarded for your hard work. I know you don't want paying, but it may keep you going when you feel like throwing in the towel.
Yes there are other engines out there but irrlicht is relatively lithe (especially when stripped down/customised my DX8 only .dll with NO gui except image and fader - using my own custom "real gui" class with ITextures* and Draw2DImage) weighs in at just 680k - ish. I don't think I could even begin to strip down the other "all purpose" engines out there as there is too much inter-dependencies.
It has been a pleasure working with Irrlicht and reading your code has taught me things I didn't know, even after coding D3D "manually" for some time.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!
